Started great, ended great and in between, well...

Today (like any other day) I went down to our pastures to ride Miracle eager for a good ride. Well, at first that's what i got but… an hour and a half later into the ride Miracle got ornery. Oh boy. I was cantering him toward home when he switched leads to a fast canter. At first I thought he was just excited to go home but when I tried slowing him down he kept his neck stiff and set. So I tried turning him to the right then the left, but he was determined to get home fast! Little did he know that that was just another way to spend an hour longer in the saddle. When he finally came to a stop in front of a fence I turned him in a gazillion circles then made him canter away from home. We did a lot more work out in the fields, and when he was nice and sweaty I started cantering him toward home to see if he was going to take off with me again. He did. This time when I worked him he was breathing exceedingly hard and just literally dripping with sweat. Providentially he is a quick learner and the third time I cantered him toward home he was a perfect angel, ears forward and all, doing a slow canter all the way!

Miracle "plays" in the mud!

Almost two weeks ago I was riding out in our super muddy pastures when Miracle decided he wanted to go back home faster then I wanted him to. I gave him the OK to turn, while cantering, and then he realized this was his chance! He whipped around so fast that by the time he fell on my leg and skidded on the ground I was still thinking about disciplining him for turning around too fast! Once Miracle was lying on the ground and my leg he didn’t want to get up! He just lifted up his head and looked at me as if to say, “What’d ya do that for?” So I had to slap him on the rump to get him to move. When I did that he sorta tried to get up and put his legs in the air like he was going to roll over the other way on top of me! So I kind of pushed on him and then that gave some distance between my leg and his side, then I pulled my leg out and jumped up on my feet holding the reins as he jumped up. I walked him around a bit and checked his legs to make sure nothing was wrong, after that I got back on him and started riding again, only this time I didn’t tell him to turn while cantering! Hopefully Miracle learned that if he turns too fast he’ll slip and fall but I doubt it!

Which way should we go?

Bon Fire and Hay Ride

In November of 08 our family decided to have our whole church out for a hayride and bon fire. We had to clean out the whole barn and around the house to get things ready for the bon fire. We decided that we couldn’t take people down to the pastures for the hayride but that we’d have to take them around the field by the barn. At about sundown that night people started to show up and it wasn’t long before we could finally eat. As soon as it came time to take the hayrides I (Ethan) got a whole bunch of bottle rockets and dynamite and ran behind some hay bales. I had a torch so I could light a whole bunch at a time and maybe I lit to many because people started screaming and I had to run out and stomp on some fires…but I think the fires helped scare some people pretty bad because they thought the hole field was going to catch fire. The bon fire and hay rides were a lot of fun as well as fellowship.

Me (Ethan) and my Honda dirt bike.

About two years ago I bought a small beginner Honda dirt bike off of a friend. Just about six months after and quite a couple of accidents later I bought my "dream" bike, a Honda CRF 250R (MX). Ever since then I've been ridding on our ranch, and recently just dug out some ramps. Surprisingly i haven't had a bad wreck since I bought the new bike but I've been pretty close to it...such as taking a ramp with a flat tire that must have just popped and kept wondering why I almost fell down each time I landed. I've got about five good ramps that I practice on each time I get a chance to go riding. Here's some pictures of me and my Honda dirt bike at our ranch.

THE ICE STORM AND TUBING BEHIND A FOUR WHEELER

In January, Branson had a pretty bad ice storm that iced a lot of people in...So here's what we do when we get iced in...with our powerful AWD four-wheeler we get some big inner tubes and tie them to the back of the four wheeler right? Then while some crazy idiot sits in the tube we drive the four-wheeler like mad and try to get them to fall out...it's crazy! And remember this isn't snow it's mostly ice and sleet so when you fall out you still keep on sliding and sliding an hopefully don't hit the fence. I couldn't get a video on but will try later... the video's are pretty cool and we don't have many pics of tubing. -Ethan.

The Colorado Ski Trip

Janurary the second all of the moore family left on a road trip to Colorado. Chelsie and Jesse would be meeting us up there the night we arrived. Staying seven day's in Pogaso Springs was a blast for all of us and relaxing for most of us...at least the ones who weren't so sore from skiing they couldn't hardly walk. The next day we were on the slopes of Wolf Creek Ski resort. Most all of us skied and some of us tried snow boarding but Ethan and Amber were the only ones that got the hang of the snowboarding. The mountains up there were absolutly beautifull!! There is no such feeling as sking or boarding down the mountin while looking at the magnificent view...untill you loose ballance and fall face down in a huge pile of powder and can't get out. Anyways the colorado ski trip was a ton of fun for everybody.
